We don’t even notice how many limiting and belittling lies we tell ourselves all day long. Find out how you can change your life by eradicating these lies in this week’s episode of Your Life Your Success.
1. I am not deserving.
As Marianna Williamson says: Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.’ We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be.
The excuse of not being worthy just shows that you’re scared and that’s OK. Still, you are deserving of everything you dream of. Don’t let this lie hold you back.
2. I’m not … enough.
I’m not good enough, smart enough, pretty enough, educated enough, rich, disciplined enough.
This is the most common lie we tell ourselves. We compare, we play small, we hold back because we believe that there’s someone better and we’re less than. Again, it’s a brutal lie.
You are enough simply because you are.
3. It’ll never happen to me.
If you think that why, it won’t. I used to think that way (and still do way too often) and life never failed to make this prediction come true. However, if you choose to be open to the possibility that it (whatever that it may be) will and can come true, you will create a whole new energy that will help to make your dream a reality.
4. If only…
If only circumstances were different. If only my upbringing was different.
If only these beliefs/sentences were not just lame excuses!
5. I don’t have the time.
Guess what, we all have the same amount of time. It’s up to you to choose what you do with your time. You have 168 hours in a week. Let’s say you sleep 7 hours (we’re talking ideal here), then you have 119 hours left. You work 40 hours a week, that’s 79 hours you have to chase your dream.
6. I don’t have the money.
Educating yourself isn’t expensive. After all, we have the Internet, right?
Get creative, think outside the box and you’ll find plenty of ways to make your chosen lifestyle a reality.
7. I don’t know how.
Marie Forleo says: Everything is figureoutable.
If you truly desire something, you’ll make it happen. You will learn everything there is to learn because you yearn to get to where you want to go. That’s how I did it with The Ultimate Guide to a Healthy Body Image, my first book, and that’s how millions of others are doing it with their respective dreams.
8. I must have the love and approval of others.
This can be related to you chasing your dreams or simply believing you can find the man of your dreams. No, you don’t. The only permission you need is yours.
9. To be loved, I must change into someone I’m not.
Or I must agree to everything others say. Surely, they’d leave my side if I stood up for me and told them what I really mean, right?
Wrong. People will respect you for sticking up for yourself and having an opinion, having your own values and your own mind. If they don’t, they don’t deserve to be in your life.
10. I’m ugly and fat and that’s why I can’t play a bigger game.
Your looks have nothing to do with what you can or can’t achieve in life. It’s all about your inner attitude and your confidence. So, don’t use your dislike for your body as an excuse not to take action.

It’s a shame that some of us are told all of these things growing up before we are able to think for ourselves.
I know I was told a lot of them, and that is exactly why I have made it a challenge over the last few years to work on this for myself.
The people who are able to work on it and let it go will get further than the ones who just accept it and go “oh well I can’t do anything about that”.

Couldn’t agree more, Ben. It is sad, but as adults, we have a choice to change our “fate” and create a life with powerful affirmations and we can live the truth: the truth that we’re great, love, kind and can chase our dreams. I’m so glad you have made it a challenge to create change and I will be cheering for you on every step of the way. Keep us posted how it’s going. 🙂
