Are you struggling with your self-esteem?
Are you standing in your own way of loving yourself, believing in yourself and making drastic changes in your life?
I think we all are, but there are a few things that we can all do to boost our self-esteem. Here are a few tips that’ll help you feel more confident in yourself.
1. Smile at yourself more often.
Smile at your reflection in the mirror, shop windows or simply smile at yourself while walking around. The more you smile at yourself the better. It will not only improve your mood, but it will also help you feel more confidence in yourself and your abilities.
If you want to go a step further, spend some time with a friend, sibling or partner who can make you belly laugh for minutes.
I can do that with my sister and whenever we’re together, that’s when I’m the most authentic me. I don’t worry about the way I look when I laugh so hard that I can’t breathe anymore. I don’t feel ashamed of my loud and weird-sounding noise, I am confident and free.
2. Walk faster, sit straight, keep your head held high.
Posture makes a huge difference in the way you feel about yourself.
Observe your posture right now: do your shoulders hang? Do you look on the floor? do you lay in your chair?
How does that make you feel? Empowered? Strong? Confident?
I bet not. So, sit up straight, pull your shoulders back and hold your head high. Better?
Also, when you walk, don’t just take a stroll, but walk as if you are going somewhere. Because you are! You are walking toward a bright future. So, walk fast and see how that changes your attitude.
3. No more comparisons.
We’re always comparing and thinking things like “she’s better than me.”, “she’s thinner than me”, “she’s more successful than me”. And we instantly jump to self-loathing, right?
Comparisons only hurt you. They’re always destructive.
Try to stop. Set yourself a challenge to stop wasting time on thinking about others and instead stay with yourself.
4. Dress nicely.
You don’t have to walk around in Marc Jacobs shoes and Gucci dresses, but dress in clothes that make you feel valuable, pretty, fierce or sharp.
For extra credit, put on some nice lingerie and see how sexy that makes you feel.
5. Look what you’ve already achieved.
Create a list of all the big and tiny things you have achieved in your life. Coming up with a list of 500 things should not be hard.
6. Recognize and embrace your positive qualities.
You have so many amazing qualities already. Write them down and celebrate every single one of them. If you can’t think of any, ask your family or friends and you’ll be amazed at what you’ll hear.
7. Believe in your own worth.
You are worthy because you are. [Click to tweet]
