20 years ago, I decided that one day I was going to run the NYC marathon. I had no idea about running strategies, no idea what it meant to run for more than 15k, but imagined just how thrilling it would be to run through the streets of my “forever home“.
In November of 2022, I finally did, and in this episode of the Boldly Magnificent I share my journey to the finish line, the lessons I learned along the way, and the enormous rewards of staying committed to your own path. As someone who is constantly striving towards new levels of self-development and pushing myself to the limit, it was, well, interesting that it took such a long time to make this dream come true. Listen to the podcast and you’ll hear why.
In this episode, you’ll also learn:
- How other people’s doubts and limiting beliefs created deep insecurities within me and how I overcame them
- The role that Sir Richard Branson played in my final decision
- The importance of finding a balance between structure and freedom when working toward a goal
- How running can be used as a tool for meditation and working through emotions
- The importance of trusting your strengths and intuition, but also seeking guidance from experts when needed
- The significance of starting slow and deep in many aspects of life, including business, relationships, and running a marathon
- How negative beliefs and rules can work against us and how to limit their effect
- Why having foundations in place allows for intuitive decision-making and improvisation in business and life
- Why you should never ever give up on a dream and true desire
- The undeniable effect of personal achievements and goals, no matter how small, have on your relationships, mind, and life
This story is a testament to the fact that no matter how far away a goal may seem, it is possible to achieve it with passion, commitment, and perseverance. Whether you’re a seasoned runner, just starting out, or would never ever want to go for a run, this episode will inspire you to reach for the stars and chase your dreams with everything you’ve got – be it in life, business, relationships or taking yourself on the journey towards a marathon.
I am curious: Have you run a marathon? What was your motivation behind it? What was your experience like? What was your biggest insight from listening to this episode?
