Is your closet bursting with clothes that are too tight, too big or have never been worn?
It’s time to spring-clean your closet then.
Before you go into mental breakdown mode, hear me out:
Cleansing your closet can be an enjoyable and empowering experience if you go about it with the right mindset.
We all have been trained to believe we’re more worthy if we wear a certain size of clothes (size 0 anyone?). So we go through life being slaves to pieces of fabric, feeling bad when we don’t fit into a specific pair of jeans anymore or freaking out because the sweater we bought ten years ago doesn’t fall as loosely over our shoulders as it used to.
We limit our experiences, our adventures, our emotions and our lives because of size tags that don’t mean a thing.
Enough of that.
It’s time that we take back control over our closets and our thoughts by making space for more a more meaningful life and a happier self.
Here are some ideas how you can make this experience less dramatic and more pragmatic.
1. Play some music to make it fun! Dance if you want to. 🙂
2. Recite the mantra: I am the master of my clothes and clothes do not determine my value and worthiness. [Click to Tweet]
3. Call up a friend to help you stay away from that mental breakdown.
4. Think of the reward: By the end of this weekend, you’ll not only create space in your closet, but you’ll also create space in your mind and your heart.
Share your experience with us in the comment section below. How did it feel to get rid of some of your clothes? What did you learn? Are you still resistent to the idea of making space? Why? And last but not least, what are your killer tips that make cleansing your closet fun?
