Trains passing by.
I am standing still.
Trains rushing, the icy wind hitting my face.
I am not moving.
Standing on the platform.
Watching.
Noticing.
Listening.
Detaching.
More trains.
I am taking a deep, long breath.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Trains stop. Doors open.
Decisions to make.
Get in.
Step back.
I close my eyes.
I grasp the memories.
Putting one foot in the door.
I’m being sucked in.
Pain.
Fear.
Shame.
I wake up just in time.
Pull my foot back and turn around.
I’m not holding on.
Not today.
Not in this moment.
Doors close.
I notice the wintery air on my cheeks and I smile.
I smile because I know
that in every moment
at any point
in my life
I can make the decision to engage, to hold on, to replay, to walk the familiar patterns
or
I can simply observe
with curiosity
and act from a place of awareness,
starting anew over and over again.
