Dear Life,

It’s time we had a heart-to-heart. We’ve been through a lot together, and today, I want to acknowledge the beauty, the chaos, and everything in between that you bring.

You’ve taught me lessons that no classroom ever could. When I faced those dark, sleepless nights, feeling overwhelmed and inadequate, you whispered, “Keep going.” You reminded me that every stumble is an opportunity to rise stronger. You’ve shown me that vulnerability is not a weakness but a testament to our strength.

Remember the mornings when the sunlight kissed my face, and I felt invincible? Those were the moments you made me realize the power of gratitude. You’ve given me laughter that echoed through my soul and tears that cleansed my spirit.

You’ve been my greatest teacher. Every challenge, every setback, every heartbreak—they were all chapters in the story of my growth. You’ve made me confront my fears, push past my limits, and discover parts of myself I never knew existed.

But let’s be real, Life, you’re not always easy. There are days when everything feels like an uphill battle, when self-doubt creeps in, and toxic beliefs rear their ugly heads. Yet, it’s in those moments of struggle that you’ve shown me what I’m truly made of. You’ve taught me resilience, patience, and the art of self-love.

Through you, I’ve learned the importance of balance—how to embrace my ambitions while also cherishing moments of stillness. You’ve taught me to listen to my body, honor my needs, and nourish my soul. You’ve helped me see that my relationship with food is not just about sustenance but about connection and care.

You’ve brought incredible people into my life—friends who turned into family, mentors who guided me, loved ones who stood by me through thick and thin. And most important of all, you’ve given me my son. With him, I’ve shared adventures, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Together, we’ve explored the world, challenged our limits, and grown into better versions of ourselves.

Life, you’ve shown me that I am capable of so much more than I ever imagined. You’ve ignited a fire within me to reclaim control over my story, to redefine my relationship with food, and to live a life brimming with energy, fierceness, and fun. You’ve taught me to value personal well-being, to prioritize self-care, and to commit to continuous growth.

I promise to cherish you, to embrace every high and every low, and to always strive for harmony. I’ll seek freedom from obsession, enhance my self-awareness, and cultivate emotional intelligence. I’ll challenge myself, deconstruct old beliefs, and remain open to new realities.

The Early Years

Growing up, I often wondered what my place in this vast world would be. As a child, my days were filled with curiosity, wonder and creativity, internal family battles, fear and darkness. You, Life, were a mystery. Each day was a new chapter, each experience a new lesson.

The innocence of childhood is something truly magical. I however don’t remember many moments of this precious state. The freedom you gave me to dream without limits, was poisoned by the vitriol of people around me. Yet, those early years were a time of boundless imagination, where the lines between reality and fantasy blurred, and – in my dreams – everything seemed possible.

The Teenage Turmoil

Then came the teenage years, a rollercoaster of emotions, confusion, and self-discovery. This was a time when the messages of hate really began to sink in and I started to question if I was worthy of being alive and if so, how would I need to become to continue living. The pressures of fitting in, the anxieties of school and home life, and the complexities of friendships and relationships began to weigh heavily on me.

You, Life, threw curveballs my way—challenges that seemed insurmountable at the time. The insecurities about my body, the fear of not being enough, and the struggle to find my identity were overwhelming. But looking back, I realize that these experiences were crucial in shaping who I am today. They taught me resilience, empathy, and the importance of staying true to myself.

Early Adulthood: Finding My Path

In my twenties, I began to understand the importance of self-discovery. I learned that it was okay to take risks, to make mistakes, and to change directions. The path wasn’t always clear, but you taught me to trust the journey. It was during these years that I started to appreciate the value of perseverance, and the joy of achieving my goals.

You granted me my biggest dream: becoming a mom. With this new human being that was a) all mine and b) totally dependent on me, I learned to grow up, put my internal battles and the omnipresent darkness aside and become the strongest, fiercest version of myself yet.

The Journey of Self-Discovery

As I navigated through my twenties and into my thirties, I began to realize that self-discovery is an ongoing process. It’s not about finding a definitive answer to who I am, but rather embracing the journey of becoming. I started to explore my passions, my strengths, and my values. I learned to listen to my inner voice, to trust my instincts, and to follow my heart.

This journey wasn’t always smooth. There were times of self-doubt, fear, and uncertainty. But with each challenge, I grew stronger. I learned that it’s okay to ask for help, to lean on others, and to accept that I don’t have to do it all alone. The support of family and friends became my anchor, providing the love and encouragement I needed to keep going.

The Power of Mindfulness

One of the most profound lessons you’ve taught me, Life, is the power of mindfulness. In a world that’s constantly moving, finding moments of stillness has been transformative. Through meditation and yoga, I’ve learned to quiet the noise and connect with my inner self.

Mindfulness has helped me to be present, to appreciate the little things, and to cultivate a sense of peace and balance. It’s taught me to let go of the past and not to worry about the future but to embrace the here and now. This practice has not only improved my mental and emotional well-being but has also enhanced my physical health.

Embracing Self-Love

Self-love is a journey, not a destination. It’s about accepting myself fully, flaws and all, and treating myself with kindness and compassion. For many years, I struggled with body image issues and toxic beliefs. I believed that my worth was tied to my appearance and that I needed to be perfect to be loved.

But you, Life, have shown me that true beauty comes from within. You’ve taught me to appreciate my body for what it is—a vessel that carries me through this world, allowing me to experience its wonders. I’ve learned to nourish my body with wholesome foods, to move it with joy, and to rest it when needed. I’ve realized that self-care is not selfish but essential for my well-being.

Reclaiming My Relationship with Food

My relationship with food has been a complex one. There were times when I used food as a way to cope with emotions, to fill a void, or to punish myself. This toxic cycle left me feeling guilty, ashamed, and disconnected from my body.

Through this journey of self-discovery, I’ve learned to reclaim my relationship with food. I’ve come to see food not as the enemy but as a source of nourishment and joy. I’ve learned to listen to my body’s hunger cues, to eat mindfully, and to savor each bite. I’ve discovered the pleasure of cooking, experimenting with new recipes, and sharing meals with loved ones.

Food is no longer a source of anxiety but a way to connect with myself and others. It’s a way to celebrate life’s moments, big and small, and to honor my body’s needs.

Overcoming Limiting Beliefs

One of the biggest challenges on this journey has been overcoming limiting beliefs. These are the negative thoughts and patterns that hold us back, the inner critic that tells us we’re not good enough. For years, I allowed these beliefs to dictate my actions, to keep me small, and to prevent me from reaching my full potential.

But you, Life, have shown me that these beliefs are not truths but stories we tell ourselves. You’ve taught me to challenge them, to reframe them, and to replace them with empowering beliefs. I’ve learned that I am capable, worthy, and deserving of all the good things that come my way.

Embracing Change

Change is a constant in life, and learning to embrace it has been a crucial part of this journey. There have been times when change felt terrifying, when I clung to the familiar out of fear of the unknown. But you, Life, have shown me that change is often the catalyst for growth and transformation.

I’ve learned to see change as an opportunity rather than a threat. It’s taught me to be adaptable, to go with the flow, and to trust that everything happens for a reason. Embracing change has opened up new possibilities, new experiences, and new paths that I never would have discovered otherwise.

The Power of Gratitude

Gratitude has been a cornerstone of this journey. It’s taught me to focus on the positive, to appreciate the abundance in my life, and to find joy in the little things. Keeping a gratitude journal, where I write down things I’m thankful for each day, has been a transformative practice.

Gratitude has shifted my perspective, helping me to see the glass as half full rather than half empty. It’s made me more resilient in the face of challenges, more compassionate towards others, and more at peace with myself. It’s a reminder that even on the toughest days, there is always something to be grateful for.

The Beauty of Connection

Connection is what makes life meaningful. It’s the relationships we build, the love we share, and the bonds we form that give life its richness. You, Life, have brought incredible people into my world—friends who have become family, mentors who have guided me, and loved ones who have stood by me through thick and thin.

These connections have been a source of strength, joy, and inspiration. They’ve taught me the importance of showing up for others, of being present, and of nurturing the relationships that matter most. Through these connections, I’ve learned the power of love, compassion, and community.

The Journey of Parenthood

Parenthood has been one of the most profound and transformative experiences of my life. It’s taught me the true meaning of unconditional love, sacrifice, and resilience. Raising a child has been both the greatest joy and the biggest challenge, filled with moments of pure bliss and overwhelming exhaustion.

You, Life, have shown me that parenthood is not about perfection but about presence. It’s about being there for my child, guiding them, and loving them unconditionally. It’s taught me patience, empathy, and the importance of self-care. Parenthood has deepened my understanding of myself and my capacity to love and nurture.

Embracing Adventure

Adventure is what keeps life exciting and fresh. It’s about stepping outside of my comfort zone, exploring new places, and trying new things. Whether it’s traveling to a new country, taking up a new hobby, or simply going on a spontaneous road trip, adventure has been a way to ignite my sense of wonder and curiosity.

You, Life, have shown me that adventure is not just about the big, bold experiences but also about finding joy in the everyday. It’s about seeing the world through the eyes of a child, embracing the unknown, and being open to new possibilities. Adventure has taught me to live fully, to take risks, and to savor every moment.

The Gift of Time

Time is one of the most precious gifts you’ve given me, Life. It’s a reminder that every moment is fleeting, and that we must make the most of the time we have. It’s taught me to prioritize what truly matters, to let go of what doesn’t, and to live with intention.

I’ve learned the importance of being present, of savoring the little moments, and of creating memories that will last a lifetime. Time has shown me the value of patience, of allowing things to unfold in their own time, and of trusting the journey. It’s a reminder that life is short, and that we must live each day to the fullest.

The Journey Continues

As I reflect on this journey, I am filled with gratitude for all that you’ve taught me, Life. You’ve been my greatest teacher, my constant companion, and my most profound source of strength. You’ve shown me the beauty in the chaos, the light in the darkness, and the joy in the journey.

I know that there will be more challenges ahead, more lessons to learn, and more adventures to embark on. But I also know that I am stronger, wiser, and more resilient because of all that we’ve been through together.

So here’s to you, Life—to the journey we’re on, to the lessons learned, and to the adventures yet to come. Thank you for being my constant companion, my greatest teacher, and my most profound source of strength.

With all my heart,

Anne

P.S. Let’s keep growing, loving, and living to the fullest.
