Each of us has a unique, fascinating, and ever changing relationship with food. And oftentimes we feel that this unique relationship with food and our body is so screwed up, so painful and horribly twisted in guilt, shame and fear that we’ll never ever be able to heal or simply stop the outright war that’s been going on for decades.

We feel that we’re so messed up, so broken, that there’s no hope for us. Well, at least that’s how I felt for oh so long.

Here’s a simply truth though:

Our challenges with eating, weight and health are NOT an indication that we’re broken.

In other words,
you are NOT BROKEN.

Never have, never will be.

You are not “messed up” beyond any hope.

You may be bingeing every night and fall into food comas regularly.

You may start a new diet every Monday morning.

You may promise yourself every night that tomorrow, tomorrow it’ll all be better.

You may restrict to the point of complete exhaustion and the members of your gym may think you don’t have a home.

But YOU as a person, as a human being, as a soul are not broken.

Your challenges with food and our body are simply beautiful opportunity to grow and evolve in this life.

If you’re rolling your eyes, don’t. And instead ask yourself if the way you’ve been looking at (judging) your eating patterns, your weight in the past has led to any healing. It hasn’t, has it?

That’s because you’ve probably seen it as a major issue, a problem, something to get out of the way as quickly as possible.

What if you were to look at this challenge, this unique relationship with food as an important lesson that came into your life to teach you vital information and experiences – IF you choose to listen?!

What if you recognized that your relationship with eating, weight and health is intimately connected to other primary life dimensions – relationship, family, work, sexuality, your search for meaning and fulfilment, and so much more?!

What if instead of demonizing this part of your life, you were to lovingly embrace it and your whole self in the process?

That is how healing is done. That is how you can find your way back to feeling whole (not being whole as this is already what you are)! That is how you’ll be able to lovingly and gently let go of your addiction to food, exercise or your need to be thin.

That is how you’ll be able to completely break free.

The fact is that you, my love, are not broken. And yet it’s up to you to begin working your way towards realizing that you truly, really, fully are whole. And yes, your struggle with food and your weight is part of that wholeness. Pretty cool, isn’t it?

Big hugs and love,
Anne-Sophie
